An end and a new start

2019/03/22

After nearly a year, I’ve now been declared in remission with my lymphoma. So that’s the end of this period. But I’m not completely done, as I’ll need to regularly check it’s not coming back. Being cured, is only possible after 5 years of remission. And I now need to return all the care my wife gave to me to her, as she was diagnosed with a breast cancer back in october 2018, operated immediately and she’s now in the mid of her own chemiotherapy, before radiotheray. So the real end should rather be around june this year, if everything continues to be for the best for her as it also seems to be (she had a much less streamlined relationship with the hospital, but that’s another story).

So now, it’s time to start again working full time to HPE (next week officially, even if with the recent events, I’ve been more than half time) and to come back to my FLOSS projects that have been suffering themselves meanwhile.

And the first one, as it’s the basis of the rest forme, is project-builder.org. I already had made modifications to use YAML type of configuration files, instead of my own format up to now (well, when I started back in 2007, YAML wasn’t as popular as it is today) but didn’t had time to test on other projects and publish and of course I also fixed some bugs such as:

So as of now, version 0.15.1 of project-builder.org is available and ready for you to test and thus improve your Continuous Packaging approach as part of your automation chain. Enjoy !

And now that my production toolset is ready again, I can come back at last to MondoRescue to publish that version that as been waiting for way too long now. Expect news in the coming weeks.

Venez fêter les 6 ans de Docker

2019/03/19

Mike Bright continue de promouvoir inlassablement les technologies cloud native sur Grenoble et vous propose de venir souffler les 6 bougies de Docker:

https://events.docker.com/events/details/docker-grenoble-presents-docker-birthday-6-how-do-you-docker

J’y parlerai et surtout montrerai mon utilisation de Docker Engine pour packager des logiciels pour Mageia (dont Docker lui-même !), tant la version stable que celle de développement, sans perturber ma machine hôte.

Venez nombreux !

Meet at HPE TSS next week

2019/03/07

Last year, due to health problems I had to cancel my participation at last minute to the HPE TSS event. Hopefully, this year I’ll be back again ! Becasue the latest results of my scanner passed last week are as good as they could be: no cancer cells remaining or re-detected, as it was the case both in june and september 2018. So I’ll be able to come back to work full time end of march as planned, but meanwhile, I’ll be working only at 100% 😉

As usual I’ll deliver multiple sessions around various topics, because that’s fun to do ! (well preparation is less fun, but delivery is, so I know I’ll keep only that in mind afterwards ;-))

So I’ll be in Paris from the 116th to the 15th of March, and if you happen to attend and want to talk with me, you should be able to find me at:

  • Redfish Implementation at HPE – IB179 – 11/03/19 (Monday) 16:00 – W02
  • Linux Roadmap – Followed by OpenSource Round Table – IB173 – 11/03/19 (Monday) 17:00 – W02
  • Lab RPM Packaging – L100 – 12/03/19 (Tuesday) 14:00 – Lab 2
  • Containers for HPC – B121 – 13/03/19 (Wednesday) 09:30 – W07
  • Redfish: Standard status – B194 – 14/03/19 (Thursday) 08:30 – W05
  • Learning Python with Redfish – L105 – 14/03/19 (Thursday) 14:00 – Lab 3
  • OpenSource Open Labs – OL61 – 15/03/19 (Friday) 11:00 – Lab 4

Well, not too bad for a poor old and ill guy 😉 But except for the Labs, I’m not alone to prepare and deliver, so makes it easier for once. So as usual if you want to talk FLOSS, projects I’m involved in, FLOSSCon 2020 or anything else, feel free to join and chat with me !
